Campinas – SP

Campinas is a city 99 km away from the capital of São Paulo. Founded 248 years ago, the city had coffee and sugar cane as important economic activities.

Hanckeada with the eleventh largest GDP in the country, it is the first Brazilian city to become a metropolis without being a capital. In addition, the city stands out as an influence. In 2011, it produced 15% of all national scientific production, being the third largest Brazilian research and development center.

Campinas has added historical, cultural or scientific value, with excellent museums, parks and theaters as attractions. The Campinas Municipal Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1974, is considered one of the most important in the country. The Metropolitan Cathedral has a jacaranda wood interior and a museum of sacred art. The Castle Tower, formerly a water tower, offers panoramic views. In the north, Parque Portugal includes a planetarium and restored trams from the early 20th century. At the edge of the park, the Coffee Museum recalls the city’s history as a coffee producer.
